Calamus oil is obtained by the steam distillation of thedried comminuted rhozomes of acorus calamus. The oil is slightly viscousliquid, colour is yellow to yellowish brown.

The oil is used in perfumes of the woody oriental type, inspice blends and flavours for alcoholic beverages, in regulating bloodpressure, aromatherapeutic uses (in regulating bp).
